Dear readers,
I would like to tell you my story and share with you my experiences with the DOmed team and their treatment.
Myopia has been a problem for me since I was two years old and has had a profound impact on my entire life to this day. After receiving my first "glass blocks" at two, getting my first contact lenses at six, becoming unable to tolerate them at 17, and then being confined to glasses again, I am now infinitely grateful to finally be able to turn my back on the problem of myopia.
For as long as I can remember, it has always been a dream of waking up and being able to see. Some people may have barely noticed their visual impairment, but for me, it was associated with a lot of teasing, self-esteem issues, and discomfort. I considered myself unattractive and unpretending even with this severe myopia. Due to my contact lens intolerance, it became clear to me early on that I would have to consider surgery in the long term. Now that my eye values had been stable enough for a few years, I could consider it. I was introduced to the team at the DOmed Eye Clinic Westfalen through Mr. Driesen, who had been my partner for many years as a master optician and also as a good friend. He made me aware of modern surgical techniques and the many options available, and it was his encouragement that finally gave me the courage to take this step.
After the preliminary examinations were completed and it was determined that I was suitable for surgery, appointments were scheduled, and I was one step closer to my dream. Together with Dr. Asani, we decided on a combination procedure called "Bioptics," in which lenses such as an ICL (intraocular contact lens) are implanted first, followed a few weeks later by laser treatment of the remaining astigmatism (Femto-LASIK).
From the very beginning, I felt well looked after and well cared for by Dr. Asani and his team. This was also reflected on the individual days of the surgery. I was accompanied through the operations with great calm and care. Everyone on site was always willing to listen to any questions, as well as any doubts or concerns that arose. The post-operative care was seamless and comprehensive. Dr. Asani, the surgeon, was even available by phone around the clock on both days of the surgery.
